Creating an aggregate from spare array LUNs

You can use the Create Aggregate dialog box to create a new non-root aggregate for your storage requirements by using the selected spare array LUNs of a third-party vendor.

Before you begin

•	The V_StorageAttach license must be installed on storage systems running Data ONTAP 8.2.1.

Note: The license key is different for releases prior to Data ONTAP 8.2.1.

About this task

•	For aggregates for third-party storage, you cannot have array LUNs from storage arrays from different vendors in the same aggregate.

Steps

1.	From the home page, double-click the appropriate storage system.

2.	Expand the Cluster hierarchy in the left navigation pane.

3.	In the navigation pane, click Storage > Array LUNs.

4.	Select one or more spare array LUNs and click Create Aggregate.

5.	Specify a name for the aggregate, and then click Create.
